Man found guilty in baseball-bat attack on student. Someone was in need of a gun.

Someone was in need of a gun. Or do we now need to ban baseball bats?
According to court testimony, Francisco Baires and Veronica Pastore were walking home from a Downtown bar on June 26, 2007, when Baker pulled up in his Cadillac, jumped out and demanded their money and jewelry.
At this point Francisco Baires and or Veronica Pastore had they been armed citizens they would have had a chance to pull out their firearms while backing away from the thug.
Pastore said Baker was behaving highly erratically and had a lot of energy, "but not good energy."
"I asked him, 'What do you think you're doing? We don't have any money, we're grad students,' " Pastore said.
Fair reply, better to have retreated if you can, if that is out better to have stood the thug down with a .38 or .45
Baker got back into his car, but instead of leaving, simply drove next to them, staring at them, Pastore said.
Moments later, Baker jumped back out of the car, this time with a metal Louisville Slugger, Pastore said.
When the couple again told Baker they didn't have any money, Baker struck Baires on the head with the bat, Pastore said.
And during all this time where was their police protection? Oh wait, they didn't have any police protection and neither do you. The police have no obligation to protect you from other people.
In this whole escapade of violence the victims it seems made several mistakes, they passed up chances to retreat and get away from the threat which should always be your first priority. When someone is being an asshole to you always look for an out, get away.
When that is not possible or safe defend yourself with all the force it takes to stop the attack, using whatever weapon you can including kicking, hitting, biting grabbing a lever like a board or club, use a knife if available anything including a gun.
Shoot hit stab at center mass. Do not try for head shots or to wound with a shoulder or leg shot.
Despite what you see in the movies a thug hit in the leg or shoulder may will still be able to kill you.
If you must shoot, shoot center mass and keep shooting as long as it takes to stop your attacker.
Once your attacker is down and away from a gun unable to harm you, if you shoot him again it's murder.
Keep your head in any attack, if you allow yourself to get angry you have already lost.
When the police arrive and question you say only that you fought for your life, or feared for your life or the live of another.
Say nothing more except to ask for a lawyer.
Keep your head.
That or ban baseball bats, right that will stop crime...
